Racing Pigeons of Malta

Whilst in Malta I visited my friends the Baldacchino's who have a pigeon loft with lots of prize-wining racing pigeons. I am fascinated by how these birds who, in this case, often get dropped in Italy and manage to find their way home to a tiny little loft in the middle of a tiny little village somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. Here are a few images of their prized pigeons that I managed to grab in a quick visit to the loft. I am not sure what makes one pigeon look better than another, but if you are into pigeons you should enjoy this lot.

  1. Polly, these are marvelous! And up until this minute I never gave much
thought to pigeons as objects of beauty.

  2. These really work on the neutral background away from the chattering noise/smell/movement of the pigeon loft. They all look like winners. x
